International Award for Young People
The International Award for Young People (IAYP) is the most adaptable and successful youth empowerment program sponsored by Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Association.
The aim of this program is to motivate young people aged between 14 and 25 years to become involved in a balanced programme of self-development activities.
The Participation Age is between 14 and 25 years. The basic structure of the Award consists of 4 mandatory sections – Service, Adventurous Journey, Skills and Physical Recreation. There are 3 levels of the Award – Bronze, Silver & Gold. Participants must complete the four mandatory sections of Service to be eligible for the award.
ABWU children’s home is associated with IAYP for many years.Every year around 10 to 15 children participate successfully in all three levels of awards, from ABWU,

LAXMI BAIRY, SNEHA BAIRY
Laxmi and Sneha were admitted in ABWU Home at the age of 10 years. Since their father
was away in Mumbai working as a Cook and mother worked as a domestic help, the sisters were placed in our Home for care, shelter and education. At ABWU both the sisters studied as well as participated in extra curricular activities.
After completing Higher Secondary exam, the sisters applied for General Nursing and Midwifery Training and were selected. Under the sponsorship of ABWU they both completed 3½ of Nursing Training from Bankura Sammilani Medical College, West Bengal. Presently they are posted as permanent nurses.

Kakoli Majumdar received training for beautician course as our resident in swadhar. Subsequently she has started her own enterprise.
ABWU show room
ABWU show room, where all the home products are on display and sale, depicts the success of the vocational training provided to residents. This is where the path to self reliance begins.
